Course Syllabus

Course Description:
This course borrows from both classical and current literature to highlight key mechanisms that underlie the electrical excitability of the neurons, and how such excitability enables neural circuits to drive behavior.

​

Students will engage with cutting-edge research papers and reviews. The emphasis will be on formulating thoughtful and relevant questions rather than solely focusing on answers.

​

Course Objectives:

  1. Understand the key principles of neuronal excitability and communication.

  2. Understand how distinct structures within the brain carry out complex functions.

  3. Critically analyze research papers and reviews in the field.

  4. Engage in discussions and presentations to share insights and ideas.

 

Course Structure:
The course consists of 14 classes, each lasting 2 hours. Students are expected to read the assigned paper(s) and/or review(s) before each class and come prepared with questions and discussion points.
